Q. The 20 m chain measured the length of the line to be 475 m, while the true length of the line was known to be 476.20 m.find the error in the chain

Options:

A.0.06m

B. O.7m

C. 0.45 m

D. 0.05 m

Solution

True length of the chain, L=20m

measured length of line = ML= 475m.

True length of the line =476.20m

incorrect length of the chain ,

L’ = ( TL / ML ) x L

= (476.20/475) x 20

= 20.050m

Therefore Error in chain

e =L’- L = 20.05-20.00

= 0.05m too long

Error in chain= 0.05m too long
