Q.A line EF, 75 mm long is in the first quadrant with end E in the HP and end F in the VP. The line is inclined at 30° to the HP and at 45° to the VP. Draw the projections of the line EF.

Q.A line EF, 75 mm long is in the first quadrant with end E in the HP and end F in the VP. The line is inclined at 30° to the HP and at 45° to the VP. Draw the projections of the line EF.

Solution:

Steps:

1. The plan / of F and the elevation e’ of E lie in xy.

2. The length of the front view and top view are first determined as shown in Fig. 6.fe2 of length 75 mm is drawn making 45° with the VP.

3. The projected length fe2 is the length of the front view. Similarly, e’ is obtained as the length of the top view.

4. The path ab of E in top view and the path cd of F in front view are drawn through e2 and fi respectively parallel to xy.

5. With any point e’ in xy as centre and fe as radius, draw arc cutting the path cd at f’. Project f’ to fon xy.

6. With fas centre and e’f₁ as radius, draw an arc to cut ab at e.

7. Check that e and e’ lie on the same projector. ef and ef are the required projections of the line.
