Q.A over hanging beam of length 6m is simply supported on a Span 4m with an over hang of 2m in the right hand Portion. It carries a udl of 10 kn/m on a length of 4m From LHS and a two point load of 10kN and 20kN at the distance of 2m and 6m From LHS. Find the Reactions.
SOLUTIONS:
Total load = 10×4+10+20 = 70kN
Taking moment about A
RB×4=10×2+20×6+(10×4) 4/2
= 20+120+80
RBx4 = 220kN
RB= 220/4 = 55kN
RA= Total load – RB
RA = 70-55 = 15kN

Taking moment about B
RA×4+20×2 = 10×2+(10×4) 4/2
= 20+80
= 100
RA ×4 = 100 – 20×2 = 60
RA = 60/4 = 15kN
RB = Total load – RA
= 70 – 15
RB = 55kN
